A beautiful country house near Llanelli has been given the boutique hotel treatment and reopened this month with a restaurant, 11 rooms and function facilities.
Llywn Country House sits in mature gardens in Llywnhendy, a peaceful rural area to the east of Llanelli. It is close to the Parc y Scarlets rugby ground and the world class Machynys Golf Club and Premier Spa.
Within walking distance lie the breath-taking wetlands at Llanelli, a nature reserve renowned as a top location for bird spotting. The Millennium Coastal Path, which passes through Llanelli, is popular with walkers and cyclists and offers stunning views of Carmarthen Bay and the Gower Peninsular.
Llwyn Country House will offer special packages for guests wanting to enjoy golf, spa days and rugby, as well as afternoon teas, evening meals, weddings, corporate events and more.
The hotel has been totally restyled and upgraded, offering luxurious rooms styled around the Welsh tradition of giving a heart-felt welcome. The motif of the Welsh love spoon appears throughout; the hotel has a heart-shaped lawn which is perfect for wedding photographs, and the rooms within the main house are named Calon (Welsh for heart); Cariad (love); Cwtch (cuddle), Cwsc (sleep) and Cusan (kiss).
The hotel also has an additional six rooms in an adjoining cottage, which is perfect for family groups.
“We want to extend a warm Welsh welcome to our guests and make them feel truly at home here,” says director Steve Poole. “This is a very special house full of lovely original features, and we’ve made the most of these while also creating a clean, fresh look that makes the most of the garden views.
We have lots of exciting plans for our guests: we have negotiated a special spa package with Machynys Golf and Premier Spa, and for sports lovers we have a number of high profile sports speakers who have agreed to come and hold talks here, after which guests will go and play a round of golf or attend the rugby matches. We will also be offering special sports packages including food and drink and transport to and from Parc y Scarlets rugby ground.
“When it comes to food and drink, we have an excellent chef, Sion Stephen, who has worked in some of the top restaurants in the area. He has designed a stunning menu which will be available on Friday and Saturday evenings, and we will also be offering afternoon teas by prior booking, and wonderful Sunday lunches.”
The menus make the most of the excellent Welsh produce available locally, from Welsh beef and lamb through to fresh fish, local butters and vegetables.
The hotel has a weddings license and is perfect for smaller weddings, as well as ideal for everything from special celebrations to corporate away days.
“We have created a new terrace that really makes the most of the garden views, and is beautiful for al fresco drinks on a sunny day,” says Steve. “Given the tranquillity and seclusion of Llwyn Country House, it also provides providing the perfect location for commemorating and celebrating the life of a loved one who has recently passed away.”
Steve and the team are now delighted to be welcoming their first guests.
“We’ve had excellent reactions from people who have visited the new-look hotel and previewed what we can offer here, and we’re hugely excited about the future,” says Steve.
